This book explores the impact of social media on higher education institutions, as analysed from a plethora of different professional perspectives. Rowell underlines the diverse backgrounds of the contributors to the book – some accustomed to writing for journals, others in more contemporary styles, that is, for blog posts and tweets. He then discusses the changing dynamics with regard to technology and higher education, remarking that HE institutions are having to adapt by incorporating a variety of digital equipment, resources and software into their tuition. Likewise, HE staff are also expected to engage with virtual learning environments, electronic forms of assessment and digital modes of communication.
