10. A Collaborative Approach to Research and Writing

This chapter describes an approach to research and writing that can best be described as curiosity driven and intuitive. The strategy described relates to constructing meaning (research) and sharing understanding (writing). Collaboration is a consistent theme, and it is argued that much can be gained by sharing your thoughts and drafts of your work. In terms of writing strategies, the message is that writing is a test of one’s thinking, and that clear thinking leads to good writing. Moreover, the writing advice is to maintaining focus and flow and not be excessively concerned with editing and judging. Research and writing is a journey of curiosity that is best maintained (focus and flow) with persistent effort.
